STUDENTS LIFE

•  Students at Tanganyika Secondary School maintain a proactive academic attitude, contributing to a positive and disciplined environment. Their day begins with morning tasks and campus cleaning, followed by classes from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Breakfast includes rotating options such as tea, chapati, bananas, sweet potatoes, and cassava.

•  Lunch consists of ugali (maize meal), beans, and dagaa (small fish). On weekends, students enjoy meat and fresh fish from Lake Tanganyika. Dinner typically features rice, beans, and seasonal fruits like bananas.

•  After a short break post-classes, students engage in guided discussions and prepare for their evening study session, "prepo." From 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, they focus on studies and homework under supervision.

•  Muslim students attend Friday prayers with their matron and patron, while Christian students participate in Sunday mass. Daily Muslim prayers are observed with teacher guidance while Christian students perform their usual worship. Weekend activities include morning jogs, football, netball, and occasional hikes on the school’s hilly campus.

•  Students create an inclusive, family-like atmosphere, coming from diverse regions of Tanzania. The school actively promotes cultural diversity and is working to welcome students from neighboring countries such as Burundi, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to enhance cross-cultural learning.
